What is Thespis studios and what do you make?
At the moment we are an independent theatre company with a large focus on ancient and classical theatre. We love stories that last through time and in your mind. We love a “The timeless show”, So we try our best to incorporate all the traditional elements of the period the play was written in. From the Greek masks of the “Chori”, to the heightened and epic verses that ring in our head for hours after, Thespis Studios allows you to see the world from whence it came!
How can I become part of the team?
If it is a business inquiry, you can use the contact form at the bottom of the website or reach out via Instagram socials to get in touch. If you are an actor looking for auditions and upcoming projects, you can go to the “auditions” tab on the website, pick an audition that suits you best and follow to instructions to submit the audition.
What is the audition process?
All auditions are posted on the “Audition” tab on the website. If there are scripts available to download, please do and take your time learning them, we want the best from you! Once auditions dates are sealed and we are ready to see you perform, all information for the auditions will be updated on the “audition” page.
Do I have to come in or can i submit my audition online?
We like to provide our actors with the choice of an in-person and recorded audition. All submissions will be based on the merit of the performance. There will be no bias on whether you come in person or submit online!
Does Thespis studios provide other services?
Yes! Thespis Studios also supports fellow writers and artists. If you have a script and you would like to expand it further, we will provide constructive feedback, polishing and guidance to help bring your idea to life. Our focus is on classical and mythical storytelling, but we’re open to new ideas and voices.
What is the deal with the donkey?
Our favourite mascot! Long story short, Chrysippus is the name of the distinguished gentleman with the wreathe. Legend says that Chrysippus got so drunk one night, that he saw a donkey eat a bowl of figs, helped him wash it down with wine and died from his own laughter. As a result, We have decided to devote the name Chrysippus to our mascot donkey! Please meet Chrysippus the 2nd!
